What Changed From Yesterday

  • Cloud computing (WCLD) lost 20 points, 96 to 76, and most of it was Friday’s price drop. Timber, natural gas, and residential REITs are left off the chart because most of their gains came from a weak day a month ago leaving the window. Thursday’s report called the defense move a rebound, not a new uptrend. Aerospace and defense (XAR) fell -3.37% on Friday, which fits that reading.

  • No fund qualified on Friday. Five candidates were dropped because Friday’s price fell, including aerospace and defense (XAR) and genomics (GNOM). The broad sell-off erased every rebound signal.

Why They Rose

  • Energy took four spots and pharma one. All five sit above their 1-month, 1-quarter, and 1-year averages. That is rare on a day when the S&P 500 fell -1.82%. On the other side, blockchain (BKCH) -9.13%, semiconductors (SOXX) -8.24%, meme stocks (MEME) -7.95%, and digital transformation (DAPP) -7.81% led the decliners. Gold fell -3.63%, and silver (SLV) lost -5.67%.

Leading Sectors: Oil and Gas, Pharmaceuticals, Consumer Staples

  • ① Oil and gas exploration ranks 99 on the sheet and rose on a down day. The leadership is a month old and still holding.
  • ② Pharmaceuticals rank 89 and climbed most over the month. Lilly’s and Regeneron’s reports give the move earnings support.
  • ③ Consumer staples rank 94. The gain came without a clear report, so it reads as defense against the chip sell-off.
  • ④ The last report covered the October 29 close. Its three picks from that close to Friday’s: Herc Holdings -4.71%, Fortive -0.93%, and Elbit Systems -3.43%, against -1.82% for the S&P 500. Only Fortive beat the market. Elbit also closed below the $790.00 level the report flagged. Recorded as is.
